The Buchanan Society Shield

The motto of the Clan is “Clarior Hinc Honos” - “Henceforth forward the honour shall grow ever brighter”, and that of the Society “Audaces Juvo” - “I Help the Brave”.

The Clan war cry is “Clar Innes”.

The Shield of Arms of the Buchanan Society is in gold, bearing a black Scottish Lion Rampant, an open book, signifying learning and a purse, signifying money. The crest includes a Ducal Cap of Maintenance held in a right fist and surmounted by a rose.  The foliage on the crest comprises Bilberry and Oak, both of which flourish on Clairinch, the island in Loch Lomond which belongs to the Buchanan Society.
